A good introduction to Chinese tea, with one labeling error

I decided to try the iTeaworld Chinese Tea Starter Kit after a positive experience with another tea sampler from the same brand. The set contains four varieties of Chinese loose-leaf tea: Yellow-Style Longjing green tea, Mi Lan Xiang Dancong oolong, Jian'ou Da Hong Pao oolong, and 2003 aged Ripe Pu-erh, which I was particularly eager to try. The Pu-erh has an authentic appearance and aroma, and the brewed tea is dark brown with a very well-balanced taste. The other teas have delicate, authentic flavors with somewhat floral aromas, making them interesting to taste and compare. Each variety comes in a separate 20 g package, for a total of 80 g of tea. The kit also includes 20 disposable tea filters and four informative cards describing the different teas. I particularly like the educational aspect of this sampler, which lets me learn about different Chinese teas as I try them. The tea is fresh, with a shelf life of 18 months, compared with two years for the same brand's individually wrapped tea bags. However, I noticed a labeling error: the production date is marked November 15, 2026, although I ordered the product on September 15, 2026. I deducted one star because of this error. At $26.99, the sampler is reasonably priced considering the variety, accessories, and educational materials. It would also make a thoughtful gift for someone interested in exploring Chinese tea.

A wonderful sampler of unique and authentic non-black teas from China

This is a wonderful little introductory box of tea—real Chinese tea, not flavored black tea. I strongly recommend this for anyone from the beginning exotic tea curious to more advanced creatures like myself who has tried as many different types of teas as possible but still wants to learn about more. This awesome set has four different teas: one green, two oolong, and one pu-erh. The green tea (Yellow-Style Longjing) and the Pu-erh were most interesting to me because I’ve never tried anything like them before. The Longjing had sort of an odd nut/green flavor; The Pu-erh reminded me a little of Seaweed, but not in a fishy way. My favorites were the Mi Lan Xiang Dancong and the Jian’ou Da Hong Pan because I love the taste of oolong. The box includes the four loose leaf teas, empty tea bags to use, a couple clips to close the bags (four would have been preferable) and four cards that tell about the tea, the region they are from, and instructions like brewing time and tea quantity. Everything is geared toward using more tea leaves but brewing for shorter amounts of time. But if you are used to brewing longer (the standard 3-5 minutes) with smaller amounts of tea, you can do that as well, but you’ll have to figure out what works best for you. The measurements use the metric system, so if you are from the USA, you will also have to convert that. For what it’s worth, I’d say just use your standard amount of tea—approximately half a tablespoon for 8 ounces of water for 3-5 minutes. Your mileage may vary depending on how you approach tea brewing.

Chinese Teas

This Chinese tea sampler set comes with 4 different teas that I’m not familiar with as I usually drink jasmine or black teas. Each tea pack comes with a card describing the tea, where is comes from, and how it tastes which I found very helpful. The packs have loose leafs which you add to the included tea bags, so you can control how light or strong you want your tea to be.Of the teas, I enjoyed the Mi Lan Xiang Dan Cong the most. I like teas that aren’t too bitter and this one had a subtle honey flavor to it. Although the bags may seem small, you only need a few tea leaves to brew a cup as the leaves expand in hot water. For someone new to drinking different variety of teas, this is a very nice set to start with.

delicious!

This is a delightful collection of loose leaf chinese teas! Out of all of them, the dan cong is probably my favorite. i usually drink these sweetened lightly and cold. I get at least two brews out of each set - the leaves are loose leaf and whole leaves and have great flavor - not the typical shredded bits that cheaper teas will have! iteaworld is so great if you are new to tea because they teach you about it and explain where it's from, and how to brew and what sets each type apart from the other.it's super fun to have a little tea tasting ceremony where you can try all the different types! the teas come in these cool super compressed bricks that open up as you steep!

Another excellent product from iTeaworld

This is the third iTeaworld item I've received and it's as good as always. This is a four-tea introductory sampler featuring Longjing, Mi Lan Xiang Dancong, Dahongpao, and a 2003 aged Pu-erh. The set arrived in individual loose leaf packs alongside fillable corn fiber filter bags, bag clips, and informational cards detailing each variety's regional provenance and metric brewing parameters. While the provided guide suggests larger leaf quantities with shorter infusions, the leaves also brew well with standard western steeping times and measurements. The Longjing is an accessible, mild green tea with a clean and nutty profile. In contrast, the Mi Lan Xiang Dancong presents a distinct honey and floral fragrance balanced by flavors reminiscent of roasted sweet potato and oolong rock tea. The Dahongpao provides a warm, roasted base with surprising Darjeeling-like floral complexity that shifts across multiple sips. The 2003 aged Pu-erh initially carries a faint seaweed aroma when wet, but that dissipates completely during extraction, resulting in an exceptionally smooth, woody, and mellow drink. The included cards and disposable filters make side-by-side comparison simple without requiring traditional gongfu teaware. I found this tasting flight to be an informative, low-commitment way to sample four distinctly different Chinese tea styles.

This tea has a really good flavor

This is a great set for anyone who wants to explore Chinese tea without committing to a large package of one type. I enjoyed trying all four teas, and each one had its own distinct flavor. The Longjing was fresh and nutty, the Mi Lan Xiang had a floral, honeyed flavor to it, the Dahongpao had a warm roasted style flavor, and the aged Pu-erh was smooth and rich. The included brewing cards make it easy to know how much tea to use, and the fillable corn fiber filters make brewing and cleanup simple without needing a traditional teapot. The individually wrapped packs are perfect for sampling, and the four day tasting format makes it fun to compare each tea. After trying them all, I appreciated having four completely different options and enjoyed discovering which flavors I preferred. It's hard to have a favorite since I really liked them all equally.

Very nice if you want a wine tasting experience for tea

Let me first start off by saying, I've had the unfortune to test half of these feeling well, but suddenly felt under the weather on the other two. (If wondering, I was able to try the Dahongpao and pu-erh to the best of my nose's ability, the longjing and dancong on the other hand, might be a bit less) Because of this, I can't guarantee my usual in-depth reviews on tea, but I can still taste and smell. In order to make these, I used about 2 tsps for all, and then put them into the tea bags included. It's a bit finicky as the leaves are all of different shapes and sizes, so it is a very rough 2 tsps.We got 4 flavors, Longjing, Mi Lan Xiang Dancong, Pu-erh from 2003, and Dahongpao.I found the Longjing to be the most mild, if perhaps average of them all. It's not bad, but having tried Longjing from various sources, it tends to be a solid green tea like flavor that doesn't stray from its roots. It's both easy to drink, and nice to sip on.The Mi Lan Xiang Dancong, I've never tried, but I've had somewhat similar teas that praise their "floral, orchid, honey" notes. This one kind of reminds me of a pinch of wuyi rock tea mixed with a black tea that has notes of floral, roasted sweet potato. Very enjoyable, if you love that roasted sweet potato note. Do note it's not sweet in taste, but smells sweet. For the pu-erh, which, I like to joke, can drink and vote. Initially, I thought was a bit fishy when I steeped it.Amazingly, the fishy note completely disappears after steeping and drinking. You just get that slightly woody flavor, no fish. Really nice if you like pu-erh; this felt like drinking the mildest, pu-erh I've come across. I feel like if this was my first pu-erh to drink, it would ruin all the other pu-erh I've drank over the years.Lastly, the Dahongpao, is quite surprising. I've tried a few of them, and they tend to taste like wuyi too. This one Dahongpao though, smelt a lot more floral and almost darjeeling like. I prefer a symphony (or cacophony) of flavors, where every sip smells and tastes slightly different, and different notes appear. This Dahongpao is complex like that.I definitely recommend this tea sampler if you're looking for an experience of tea, especially if you haven't tried these before. They include provenance cards of each tea, allowing you to enjoy the tea's taste and where it comes from, like a wine tasting.
