Brewing it western style for 5 minutes at 212°F, the liquor is light in color with a soft floral aroma. The flavor opens with delicate florals and a touch of honey-like sweetness, followed by subtle roasted notes from the oolong itself. The finish is pleasantly citrusy, lingering just enough without becoming sharp.

I steeped 3 grams in 12 ounces of 190 degree water for 3 minutes. This tea is so HEAVENLY! It’s a light, floral, citrusy, slightly silky, and slightly sweet dream! I love how unique this oolong is and how delicately perfumed it is with the pomelo blossoms (without it tasting like perfume at all). This is perfect to have in the afternoon with light snacks or even on its own! I would have this plain, as I think milk and sugar would take away from this beautiful tea. This really is a special one, and I felt like this was such an amazing experience for me in my tea journey to have tasted this tea. I would recommend this to anyone who loves light, unique, floral oolong teas.

Lots of firsts for me this week! Today I tried this Pomelo Blossom oolong for the first time. The earthy richness from the oolong and the spring citrus floral notes from the pomelo blossoms really transports you to early spring with every sip.

I was really excited to try this one because as an oolong lover I haven't had a pomelo blossom oolong before and I am always interested to try new scented teas. This one is a bit unusual in a scented oolong in that it is made with a dark oolong (qilan) base rather than a greener oolong base that often accompanies scented teas. As a dark oolong fan this was very appealing to me.

The dry leaves smelled amazing. Brewed up gongfu style (5g leaves, short steep) the scent was immediately citrusy and floral, but not like other floral scented teas I have had. I could definitely taste the orchid notes of the qilan oolong base tea. I really enjoyed the tea's depth of flavor and look forward to having this in cold brew form later.

I tried this one as part of the Floral Collection sampler, which I've been beyond impressed with so far. This one I admittedly didn't get much of a "floral" scent from, but it is clearly scented and very enjoyable.

This one is far less delicate than some of the others in the box - it's bolder, darker, and has sort of a roasted, nutty flavor not unlike hojicha.

I would say this is a medium-oxidized oolong that leans slightly on the more oxidized end of the oolong spectrum. The liquor is a beautiful golden color with a slight amber tinge (or I may have used a little too much tea per water - something to be careful of as those leaves expand much more than you think.)

I have a deep appreciation for the way the leaves are whole, intact, and you don't get those broken fannings and pieces in the tea after steeping. You do get a little foam/bubbles at the top, which is probably my only criticism, but it's really not a big deal. I would want to try this a second time and do a wash first before steeping.

This one is also made with care, and the result is no bitterness or astringency. It's very bold and nutty - not what I think of when I think of floral teas but very good nonetheless. Fans of hojicha like I am who enjoy a roasted, nutty warmth to their tea would love this alternative.

I received this tea as part of the Traditional Chinese Scented Tea Collection, which contained 20 small packets, 2 each of 10 different varieties. I was impressed from the start – the packaging is gorgeous. The box even came with corn fiber tea bags to make steeping easy, as well as informational cards about each individual tea. I’m a tea lover who likes learning about tea almost as much as I love drinking it, so I absolutely love this feature! It’s something fairly unique to iTeaWorld – I haven’t seen other many other companies do this!
I chose Pomelo Blossom Oolong first, as I have never tried this variety. The dry leaves were fresh and dark green, tightly rolled, with a faint floral aroma.
I steeped this tea in a gong fu set at 195F and I didn’t use a timer, but I’m guessing I steeped this for around 2 minutes. The resulting infusion was golden and fragrant.
The taste was heavily floral, fresh, springlike, and a little “green,” with a faintly sweet, citrus note in the background. The floral quality lingered on the palate for quite some time.
Pomelo Blossom Oolong is undoubtedly a high-quality tea, and quite unique. Lovers of fragrant/floral teas, lovers of oolong, and lovers of Chinese tea should jump at the chance to try this one.

Dry aroma: Light but definitely some floral notes
Wet Aroma: The floral notes are even stronger. Sweet and fruity and floral. It almost makes me cry a bit as I breathe it in deeply. It reminds me of Kaua’i. Those mornings when it’s just rained, so you get a bit of that petchicor mixed with plumeria and lemon blossoms and the other tropical forest notes.
Flavor: Mineral with longer steeps. Pomelo floral notes. A bit of citrus. A slight astringency. But nothing unpleasant.
