Sticky Rice Aroma Black Tea 100g

If you enjoy a sweet, earthy, comforting tea with a distinct aroma, I highly recommend this unique treat. I like having it without sugar/milk for a true pure experience.

I can't say I'm surprised after the high quality of all the others I've tried from iTeaworld, but here is yet another top quality scented tea.

This tea is perfection and exactly what it describes - a simple black tea with no astringency or bitterness, with a grainy warmth to it that is reminiscent of toasty, brown rice. I could see a little milk going great with this, but it is excellent on its own with no frills. I don't imagine sweetener to be the move on this one, as I think it would detract from the savory nature of this bold and cozy tea.

I steeped this at 205F for about 20 seconds and chose to try the corn fiber tea bags that iTeaworld generously included in the Chinese Scented Floral Collection box. The bags were more like large, roomy sachets with ample room for these large, intact leaves to expand, which was nice.

These leaves look very similar to Golden Monkey, but perhaps a bit more unwound, and result in a liquor that is a lovely blend of the gold and and twig brown color of the leaves.

I think this is a must-have for pure tea lovers who would like a black tea, slightly more savory version of genmaicha. I'm considering the possibility of trying to cook with this tea as well! Could be interesting!

I used the corn fiber tea bag provided for steeping, which felt like a thoughtful choice after recently reading how brewing materials—especially metal—can affect a tea’s character. I brewed this tea seven times, using 5 grams of leaf with water at 212°F, steeping for 15 seconds for the first three infusions and 25 seconds for the remaining steeps. Brewing this way naturally forces you to slow down, be present, and truly savor each cup as it unfolds.

Each infusion brewed up a glowing amber cup. The flavor is bold yet comforting, with a gentle sweetness that lingers softly at the finish. What I loved most was how steady the tea remained from cup to cup—my last steep was just as enjoyable as the first, making this a tea that rewards patience and invites quiet moments of appreciation.

To say I was intrigued about this sticky rice aroma black tea was an understatement. Its name rings true, from the second that I poured the boiling water over the tea leaves it smelt like cooking rice. The taste is that of sweet rice and yunnan black tea. My eldest (21 yrs) upon smelling and tasting it exclaimed rather excitedly that it tasted/smelled of artichokes. Earthy, greens, sweet.
At first it felt strange but then it was comforting and exciting. It made me want to rush out and get sushi! This tea really is a must try even if you do so just for the novelty.

The natural sticky-rice scent is warm and inviting, and it pairs beautifully with the smooth sweetness of the Yunnan black tea. The tea brews up rich and silky with no bitterness, making it easy to drink and very soothing. The aroma of this tea is simply heavenly and amazing. I enjoyed mine with a bit of sugar and dash of milk….this was the most delicious cup!

I thoroughly appreciate an exceptional Yunnan tea, and the addition of scented leaves and flowers elevates it to a new level. The tea boasts a smooth profile with a hint of sweetness, and I found it enjoyable on its own. Adding a touch of whole milk resulted in a delightful, creamy vanilla rice flavor.

I am currently traveling in Spain, and given the limited tea and tea ware available in my hotel, this tea has been a very welcome addition to my trip.

I brewed this tea using the gongfu method at 212°. The first 3 infusions for 15 seconds, then added 7 seconds afterwards. I resteeped this one 7 times.

It brewed up a beautiful amber color, and had a wonderful, fragrant aroma. It was so warm and comforting.

This tea was so delicious! The black tea was so smooth and had honey notes. The sticky rice had a nutty and slight earthy flavor. It was so rich and had a buttery mouthfeel. It pairs so well with the black tea. The flavor just kept getting better and better. This is one I will have to keep on hand at all times!

I’ve had a Sticky Rice Pu-Erh before, but this is my first time trying a Sticky Rice Black tea! The dry leaves were gorgeous, full, and golden-tipped.

I steeped this tea in a small teapot at 212F.

The aroma is softly earthy and, as intended, reminiscent of sticky rice. The taste matches the aroma – that sticky rice taste is unmistakable and unique. The tea is fantastically smooth and earthy with a subtle honey note. There’s something addicting about this tea; I want to keep drinking it. I’ll definitely be infusing the leaves several times over the course of the day. I think I’ll have to permanently add this one to my collection.

I have usually had this herb in puer, so I was excited to try this in black tea form. I brewed this tea hot using the gongfu method. As I poured the leaves into my gaiwan, I could smell the sticky rice herb—it’s slightly nutty and starchy, like the grain itself. The black tea itself is honey-like and creates an almost sweet flavor to the tea, and it also pairs really well with the sticky rice herb. I ended up getting many, many steeps out of the 5 gram pack (I think I lost count at 7). I really enjoyed how the black tea developed over the session, and the sticky rice herb remained constant throughout. Very delicious!

I have been really into sticky rice oolong and sticky rice puerh lately so was excited to try this black tea version. It did not disappoint. I prepared the tea gongfu style, the whole 5g packet of tea in my glass teapot with short steeps. I had it several times hot and then cold brewed the remaining leaves. The tea remained flavorful throughout many steeps, speaking to its quality. The black tea base was tasty and warming but not super deep, letting the scented flavor lead the way. The smell reminded me of creamy, toasted rice and honey and was super satisfying. I liked it in cold brew form also and think it would pair well with most Asian desserts or dim sum.

I'm drinking this tea right now, and it's the first time that I've ever tasted a sticky rice aroma tea. It really tastes like sticky rice, and the sweetness of the dianhong makes it the perfect tea for sharing with friends.

I really enjoyed this tea! I found it to be a lovely liquid version of caramel popcorn. 🍿 The tea has a nice buttery, sweet, slightly floral scent. You can also pick up the rice scent. I steeped this tea how I usually steep my black teas, at 212 degrees for 5 minutes. I immediately tasted the rice flavor and sweetness. It leaves a pleasant taste in your mouth. No sugar is needed but I added sugar and cream to taste and enjoyed it! This will go on my “to-buy” tea list.
