Premium Triple-Scented Osmanthus Tieguanyin Oolong 100g

This Osmanthus Oolong is soft, honeyed, and incredibly comforting. Made with aged Tieguanyin and scented three times with fresh osmanthus blossoms, the floral note comes through as a gentle sweetness rather than anything perfumey or overpowering. It blends seamlessly with the oolong base, creating a smooth, rounded cup.
Brewed gongfu style with 5g in a 100ml porcelain teapot at 212°F, the tea stayed silky and balanced through multiple infusions, with no bitterness and a lingering, calming finish. This is an easy, grounding tea that feels especially nice after a meal or during a slow, quiet moment. Elegant, soothing, and beautifully balanced.

It's a beautiful blend visually. Finely rolled, seaweed green leaves with almost equal parts deep yellow osmanthus petals.

I've always thought that osmanthus flowers have a nose on them that specifically reminds me of mango, and because the osmanthus flowers in this blend appear to be a deep yellow and therefore very fresh, I get not only that pungent fruity scent, but also a sweetness similar to cantaloupe.

I steeped this just under boiling (after my recent catastrophe with shattered glassware) and let it steep about 30 seconds, slightly longer than the recommended 10-15 since I was making an entire teapot.

The liquor turned out a light straw yellow with a light body and nice clarity, though a few stray shreds of tea leaves did manage to make their way into the pot - not a huge deal since the majority of the leaves were large enough pieces that they didn't escape through the strainer. I would say the leaves seemed low on the oxidation spectrum of oolongs.

The taste was sweeter than most osmanthus teas that I remember having. You could almost swear I had added a little honey even though I hadn't. I got notes of mango, cantaloupe, and a sweetness that hits you on the tail end of every sip. There is a slight astringency, not in the tannins hitting the back of your tongue, but in that there is a slight dryness that lingers after. Could simply be because I'm sick, though.

A great scented tea for those who are interested in both fruity and floral teas, and especially those who like a little sweetness but are avoiding sugar. I enjoyed this very much.

I think it is incredibly interesting that this oolong is made from aged Tieguanyin and fresh blossoms from century-old osmanthus trees.
It has a Light flowery aroma. It is a deep earthy tea layered with sweet floral undertones.
It bold yet delicate at the same time Perfect for an afternoon cup.

This Osmanthus Oolong is a perfect partnership between the Osmanthus flower and the Iron Goddess of Mercy. Both provide a tasteful and aromatic combination that accentuates each other very well.
