Chinese Tea Sampler – 8 Teas for Beginners

When I cracked open the Classic Tea Sampler, it was like unwrapping a box full of tea joy. The packaging is just as delightful as the diverse collection of classic black teas and oolongs inside. Perfect for gifting, but I couldn't resist keeping it for myself.

I enjoy having a cup of tea in the evenings, but I usually drink herbal tea. Chinese tea is brewed completely different. Herbal tea you want it to steep about 10 minutes whereas the Chinese tea is only 10 to 15 seconds. So of course, I thought this was not long enough so I brewed it 30 seconds and when my tea came out very light, it confirmed my suspicion. However, I was wrong! I had used the Tia Guanyin flavor which is the very lightest of the teas. After tasting it I realize it had brewed long enough! I enjoyed it so much I brewed two more cups and they were just as delicious! The next tea I tried was the Yingde black tea which came out darker and just as flavorful! Definitely look at their tea chart so you know what to expect, unlike me.And follow their directions one each bag.It is a loose tea but they put each serving in a bag for your convenience.This set is very nicely boxed and would make a nice gift. I’m really enjoying this tea!Update: I kept the used tea in my tea ball for a couple of days in a cool dark corner of my kitchen.Today I made a cup of tea with it and it looked and tasted just as good as the first cup! This box of tea arrives in a beautiful heavy paperboard box, worthy of gift giving. See photo. Inside are 16 "bags" of tea. However, these aren't your normal tea bags. The leaves are larger than I'm used to with tea and they brew whole. It reminded me of a pu-erh tea cake, but prepackaged. One tea bag container can make 2-3 cups of tea, plus each measure of tea leaves (according to the instructions) can be brewed up to seven times. Now, that's more than I would ever brew tea, but a friend on a tight budget might love this. I really like that the box contains a good selection of various black and oolong teas. I started with an oolong variety. It brewed well. I did "wash" the tea for three seconds before brewing, as the instructions suggested. I don't know if it made a difference in the final product, but the tea leaves produced a lovely cup of oolong. See photo. I enjoyed this tea and am very much looking forward to working through the other 15 bags.

This collection of loose leaf oolong and black teas from ITEAWORLD is delicious. The packaging is nice enough that this would make a great gift for any fine tea lover. I'm not an expert on teas at all, but I do love a good black tea. Ooolong is my absolute favorite and the ones included here are a treat. I especially loved the Dahongpao. The Wild Souchong black tea was my least favorite but is still very good.

I brewed according to the directions on the back of each pouch, with the first very brief brew being meant to clean the tea leaves then is discarded. For some of the varieties I was able to re-brew 5 times and still get an enjoyable cup by lengthening the brew times. I kept the tea leaves in the infuser in a cool spot - not in the refrigerator - then brewed more later or the next day. That makes this collection a good value based on how many cups of tea you can enjoy from it. Highly recommended!

I am extremely impressed with this tea collection. Everything about it is top notch; the quality of tea leaves, packaging, etc. I love that each tea has a unique taste different from one another.

I’m a daily tea drinker, and I usually brew loose tea. But I’m not accustomed to brewing according to the directions that came with these. I read the directions but decided to modify them in a way I could handle daily.I poured a packet of black into my tea brewing basket that fits in my large mug. I added 8 oz. of hot water using my Cuisinart pod coffee maker’s hot water button. I let the leaves brew for about 2-3 minutes. This made a wonderful smoky-flavored black tea to which I added some stevia. Mmmm! I was able to make another 8 oz which I brewed longer - 3-4 minutes. Just as tasty as the first! Can’t wait to sample the rest.This is a lovely collection of teas, and the packaging makes this a very nice gift.

This kit comes with 16 loose leaf teas. All individual wrapped. Very nice presentation. The teas come in little bags with instructions on the back with brew directions. There are 8 black teas, and 8 oolong teas.There are 4 varieties of black teas and 4 oolongs, because they all come in pairs. The tea is high quality. Nice tea leaves, not dust. So far I've tried 2 black teas and 1 oolong. They have been fresh and tasty. It's nice to be able to sample a lot of different varieties of the same tea type. Really nice tea set.

I was genuinely surprised by the quick delivery and careful packaging. Unwrapping these delightful tea options felt like opening a treasure chest, and I'm excited to explore more.

Amazing quality! The taste is sophisticated and the aroma sublime. Brewing the tea according to the instructions is key. I feel privileged to enjoy such wonderful tea.

For anyone that does not know how a quality Chinese tea tastes, this sampler is perfect for that, and or any beginner to try. I found the one tea that I love in this variety pack. And I'm a coffee drinker most of the time.

Tea was amazing tasted like it was just picked. Definitely will buy it again.

The flavor and quality of the tea is exelent, I follow the instructions and brew 3 or 4 times the leaves before the flavor starts getting milder, since is just for me I been using half a bag at a time, oolong is my favorite. I'll buy it again!

Excellent product

An excellent overview of Classic Chinese teas, including a few I have not tried before. Highly recommend this set and sampling them together to taste the differences.

I've tried similar types of tea in the past and they've all been reusable in one way or another. This one says it's reusable for brewing 5-8 times, and I can confirm this is the case. I think I got a 9th brew, but it wasn't quite as flavorful as my first five. Product presentation aside, I've actually experimented this with making milk tea and it's been great. But even as traditional tea, I've thoroughly enjoyed trying both black and oolong teas as well.

I love tea and particularly 'real' tea (ie from the tea plant)This set of classic teas not only comes in a lovely presentation but the teas themselves are superb.There are 4 green types and 4 black types. It is a real education to try them all and appreciate the subtle qualities that define each type.It would make a fantastic gift for a tea drinker and also for yourself!

This is the first time I've tried tea from this brand but all the different teas included are delicious. I definitely prefer the oolongs compared to the black tea but both were very good. I appreciate that each tea is individually packed and that they include the brewing instructions for each one on the back. If you've never brewed gongfu style tea or used loose leaf boy are you in for a treat. The tea leaves are all high quality and they last and change through multiple steeps. This would be a great sample for someone getting started in chinese teas or as a gift set. No complaints!

This is a great sampler. You get 8 different types of tea, and 2 x 5g bags for each type.That means the total amount of tea in this sampler is 80g.The teas are all excellent quality, although not quite to the level of teas sourced directly from high quality tea stores like Yunnan.But this makes a very nice gift set, is perfect for anyone that wants to try a bunch of traditional Chinese teas, and is a good value.The teas are all very fresh and excellent pickings (no stems, intact leaves, etc).Overall - great tea sampler. Not the absolute top quality teas, but perfect for a gift or if you just want to try a bunch of Chinese teas and see which style you like most.
