This collection of different black teas from China is nicely packaged and comes with a informative description, and instructions for the preparation of, the teas themselves. To preserve freshness the kit includes empty tea bags in which you put the teas before making. The flavors are noticeably different for each kind and all so far are good. Would make a nice gift for tea lovers, or those just wanting to experience well-prepared Chinese teas.

Beautifully packaged, this set of 4 teas comes basically farm to table with the inclusion of information here about where the tea was grown and picked. The Company dedicates itself to sustainable growing and biodiversity and preserving traditional ways of making tea.Easily brewed in pot or cup, I tried the pu'erh, a tea I've had before, in an oversized tea ball and steeped for two minutes as the instructions indicated. The tea was very enjoyable and I can use the same leaves over and over. The tea is beautiful after brewing and has such an amazing earthy fragrance. I looked up gongfu brewing, something I knew nothing about and now I do!As a beginner here I had confusion about the included tea bags, I don't know what they are made. There are no instructions on using the included bags and while the listing here calls them compostable tea bags, on the envelope they came in, the symbol shows someone throwing something in the trash. It would be helpful for there to be a note on the package about what they are made of, their use and how to brew with them. This brand does state it is dedicated to being a platform for beginners to learn about Chinese tea so a little more information would be helpful for a beginner like me.

I used the liu-bao as gongfu tea last night the leaves were mostly intact and unfurled gorgeously.It was delicious, with some very prominent flavors. Its general flavor profile included a strong earthy and woody base note, with a sweetness that reminded me of mild molasses. There were hints of a very very subtle smoky quality as well, as though I was sitting around a fire in the woods. The most unexpected sub-note was a chalky mineral taste in my first cup of tea, but it wasn’t unpleasant at all.As is usual with gongfu, the prominent notes got stronger in subsequent pours. The mineral flavor disappeared completely by the third pour.Overall, it was a fantastic tea without a hint of staleness. I expect the others in this sampler will be too, and look forward to trying some of the, in the included bags instead of as gongfu.

iTeaworld Chinese Dark Tea Sampler is beautifully packaged and would make a nice gift however, my package arrived slightly crushed causing package to be difficult to open.Package has 4 different types of aged teas. There are 5 packets of each tea. Each packet has loose leaf dark tea with excellent aroma. Too, in package there is an envelope with 20-fold-over empty tea bags if you choose to bag individual packet of tea instead of using a tea pot. The single-serve tea infuser bags are a sweet addition.Each tea has a unique taste, smell, and variation color tone coupled with a pleasant taste which lingers a bit. How caffeinated each tea is unknown.Samplers are a nice way to try different things and are often more expensive than bulk and this sampler set at $5.71 an ounce illustrates this common truth.

I enjoy sampler sets in general and the Chinese dark tea sampler set is new to me. And, I must say, it is exceeding my expectations. The rich earthiness of pu'erh to the smooth complexity of Liu Bao, every cup was a delightful of taste and aroma. I like the packaging too. It’s elegant and full of info, providing insight on origins and brewing methods of each tea. If you're a seasoned tea enthusiast or just beginning to explore the world of dark teas, this sampler set offers a wonderful opportunity to taste the depth and complexity of each tea. All teas in this sampler are brewed kung fu style, a short infusion with multiple brew possibility. Three come as loose leaf, with Hubei as a puck. The loose leaf quality is excellent, with full leaves rolled, and minimal fractured and no stem or twigs.The box has no protection so came a little battered in a flat mailer. It's attractive, with a cutout in the center of the sleeve revealing the inner box with art. Slip the sleeve off and there is a tab labeled "open". Lift it and the hinge opens length-wise. There is an envelope with tea bags, and underneath, 5 of each variety individually bagged. They shifted in transit for me, so if gifting you may want to open it to re-arrange into columns.Regarding the Chinese labelling on the sleeve, it is accurately referring to hei cha (黑茶) not hong cha (红茶). Hong cha literally translates to "red tea" but is known in the West as black tea as colonialists named it for the oxidized leaves. Hei cha is post-fermented, literally translating to "black tea", so in the West is sometimes referred to as dark tea, as it is here, to disambiguate.If you have the appropriate equipment you can brew as usual. If you use a mesh infuser, you'll want ample space for expansion, so a standard tea mesh ball is not large enough and honestly a disservice. If no proper equipment, you can use the supplied tea bags.The Anhua has a fragrant sweet smoky scent, strong full-bodied flavor with a caramel note and slight biscuit toastiness, wine-like finish, and a lingering smooth sweetness.This is a great way to try different teas without committing to something you may not like, and would make a great gift.

Directions say to brew 2 grams of tea per 8 ounces of water at 185 degrees to 203 degrees for 10-20 seconds. The leaves and be brewed 5-7 times! They provide 20 corn tea bags separately. What a pleasure to try diffrent fancy Chinese black teas. They come in air tight small packages and should last a long time if you can keep it that long! Very fancy especially when you have an electric tea brewer! Lovely!

They all come packaged in a highly-presentable hard box which would make a nice gift to a tea lover.I sampled all 4 varieties and they all taste great. I like the Ripe Pu-erh tea the most since it has a mellow, delectable flavor with a long-lasting sweetness. The rest are great in their own way too. Overall, I like this collection of dark teas. It is a great way to sample the various varieties. Decently priced for the amount of high-quality teas you get. It's certainly worth a consideration.
