Da Hong Pao Oolong Tea 80g

Wow, this ITEAWORLD Dahongpao Oolong Tea is delicious. It's so flavorful and smooth feeling in your mouth. While some may see the cost and think it is high, keep in mind you can re-steep up to 10 times! I re-steeped 6 times and the tea still tasted delicious and was just as smooth as the first steep. This loose tea provides you with the full experience: the aroma of the tea is pleasant and soothing. The taste is flavorful and appealing while feeling smooth in your mouth. The presentation of the tea is beautiful and would also make a nice gift for a tea lover.

This was a very enjoyable tea, possibly one of my favorites in the sample set quite honestly. This tea is a harmonious blend of roasted warmth and subtle floral notes. The tea unfolds with a smooth velvet texture, leaving a lingering essence of rich mineral notes on the palate. It's a well-balanced tea that really shines a light on the craftsmanship that has gone into the processing and making of this tea.

I use an in cup filter, and feel that's the best method to capture the complexity of this tea.

These tea leaves hold their flavor and benefits, so don't be afraid to reuse your used leaves to brew more tea. I typically re-brew 5 times before I throw out the leaves; however, you can re-brew up to 10 times, especially if you're someone who prefers a lighter tasting tea.

Bottom line:

Yes, this is tea carries a premium price point, but it goes a very long way considering the 3.5 ounces of tea weight. Also, this is one of the finest Oolong teas I've used at anywhere near this price point.

Aroma: the aroma on this one is great.
Flavor: the flavor is very good and depending on the first or the 7th brew on the same tea leaves you get different flavors out of it.
Smoothness: smooth and velvety for sure
Complexity: You can get multiple brews out of one batch of tea and the flavor does change. No, the tea does not necessarily get weaker
Color: Great color, very clear. I dont have a glass tea cup, so.
Leaf Appearance: High-quality whole or partially rolled leaves. minimal broken or crushed leaves.
Astringency: not very bitter, acidic. It can contribute to the tea's complexity and mouthfeel.
Aftertaste: I love the aftertaste on this tea, through multiple brews.
Infusion Potential: multiple infusions for sure. Ive gotten up to five throughout the day and the bag promises a solid 7-10. Amazing re-steepability on this one.

This tea is a delight. It comes nicely presented in a quality box, plastic resealable (fold over style), and a nice little brochure about ITEAWORLD and how to make this tea. Speaking of which they describe a “kung fu” process which entails up to seven short (but progressively longer) steeps for seven cups out of one serving of tea leaves. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to that until after I started steeping this. I steeped for 2 min and had a great, amber colored tea. I then steeped a second time at 3:00 and had another good cup. I could probably go a third as well. This tea is all loose leaf tea, big whole leaves, as well. Overall, I would definitely recommend this to any tea drinker or as a gift for a tea drinker. I would purchase again and would be interested in trying their other varieties.

I had never experienced Oolong tea, but I’ve heard about it all my life. This Dahongpao Oolong tea is absolutely delicious. It has a slightly smoky flavor and a touch of natural sweetness with no sugar involved.It comes with instructions to brew “Kung Fu Tea.” It involves pre-rinsing the tea leaves for a few seconds before making the first cup you will drink. I didn’t try it without doing that, but I did research the idea, and consensus is that it unlocks the flavor of the tea. The first cup was absolutely delicious. I was surprised to see in the instructions that you can brew leaves up to seven times. So far I’ve only tried it three times, and the second and third cups from the original tea leaves were as good as the first brew (after the rinse).I’ll enjoy experimenting with this tea to perfect the Oolong experience. Highly recommended!

I don't weigh my tea leaves to get 1 gram per ounce of water as most tea houses do when serving fine Oolong teas. I just place about a teaspoon of tea leaves per 10 ounce cup of water, see picture above of teaspoon I used.The first brew of the tea I let it brew for about 5 minutes and then drank the tea. I know this is much longer than the tea houses do which is about 1 to 3 minutes, so they don't get the bitterness from the tannins. My impression is the tea has a sweet almost fruity taste on the first brewing and has a nice aroma. I brewed the same tea leaves for a total of 3 times and on the second and third brewing the floral scent is mostly gone and the tea taste a little like black tea. Overall it's a nice scented tea with a good flavor not too strong and the leaves were tightly wound in the package.

This dark oolong reminded me a lot of black tea. Roasted and lightly woody, smokey aroma. The taste reminded me of stone fruits like cherries and apricots, it's also lightly sweet and bitter at the same time, which was an interesting experience. The 3rd and 4th infusions were my favourite because of the velvety mouth feel. After the 4th infusion the taste changed slightly becoming more mineral.
It was my first time trying Da Hong Pao and I utterly enjoyed it.

I've been exploring various Dahongpao Oolongs, and this one stands out. The roast is skillfully balanced, allowing the pronounced spice notes to shine through, accompanied by a delightful caramel sweetness. A truly satisfying tea tasting experience.

I have been drinking Da Hong Pao Oolong tea almost daily. I enjoy the taste and unique fragrant. The price is very reasonable. Highly recommend it to tea lovers!

Smells fruity so delicious light taste.

Great and complex aroma for a very good price. The flavor is very rich and complex for a "daily use" tea. Even the dry leafs have a very pleasant smell, and in the infusion you can tell the characteristic flavor of a wuyi rock tea. EI really enjoy drinking this tea and I'll surely buy it again when is finished.
