Dianhong Golden Bud is one of the most refined varieties of Yunnan black tea, crafted from carefully selected pre-Qingming tender buds of the Fengqing large-leaf tea cultivar. Grown in Fengqing, Yunnan — a region renowned for its exceptional black tea — this tea is made using traditional Dianhong techniques to preserve the natural sweetness and rich aroma of the buds.

The dry leaves are covered with golden tips, producing a bright reddish-gold liquor. It offers a luxurious honey-like aroma, a smooth and full-bodied texture, and a naturally sweet aftertaste that lingers. Compared with Dianhong made from one bud and two leaves, Golden Bud delivers a more delicate, elegant, and refined tea experience.

Perfect for enjoying on its own, this premium Dianhong showcases the classic character of Yunnan black tea through its pure bud material, rich fragrance, and graceful sweetness.

Aroma:Rich and inviting with a distinctive honeyed aroma, accompanied by a subtle floral sweetness.

Taste:Smooth, mellow, and full-bodied, with a naturally sweet honey-like character and a clean, lingering finish. More delicate and refined than Dianhong made with larger leaves.

Stunning tea

Today's sampling is Dianhong golden bud from Iteaworld. I was thoroughly impressed with this tea. The leaves were such a beautiful color that I felt compelled to showcase them. This was a bold tea with a robust flavor profile. I tried it plain, with sugar, and with milk and sugar. I really enjoyed it both ways. I have been consistently impressed with this brand thus far, as I have loved everything.

Fantastic Premium Tea

Opening the package my eye is drawn to the large velvety tea leaves. iTeaworld continues to surprise me with their thoughtfully curated teas. I prepared the tea in the Kung Fu manner. Steeping multiple times for short times no more than 15 seconds. The first mouthful has a malty sweetness that full bodies and smooth. I did find that as the tea cooled it looses the sweetness and a earthy flavor emerges. This tea is a fantastic premium tea that deserves a ritualistic celebration.

Smooth, Bold & Invigorating

The dry leaves are visually striking and steep into a rich, brick-red liquor. I opted for a stronger brew with a 4 minute steep, which yielded a cup that opens with a hint of astringency before evolving into a smooth, bold sweetness. It's a well-balanced and invigorating tea—an excellent choice for starting the day.

Exceptional

Today's special tea feature was iTeaworld's Dianhong Golden Bud. The tea leaves are distinguished by their golden tips and produce a beautiful amber gold liquid and sweet, rich fragrance. The flavor is sophisticated: a delicate yet rich black tea with hints of honeyed sweetness and nuanced notes of malt. A truly exceptional tea.

🍃Dianhong Golden Bud Black Tea

Stop.The.Tea.Train friends, I have discovered a new favorite tea. It’s not everyday I find a new “staple” tea but for today’s review I discovered a stop on my tea journey for this iTeaworld Dianhong Golden Bud black tea. It is absolutely amazing. Admittedly I have a Yunnan Golden Buds tea from another company that I keep on hand and is always within a hands reach of my kettle. Let’s just say on my next restock, it will become this tea right here. Hence, this tea is now my new staple tea to add to my tea collection.

These leaves are covered in golden tips and produced a rich golden brew and sweet fresh, smooth, and exceptional tea. If you’re a black tea lover who loves a rich deep unflavored tea that you want to drink and enjoy with no sugar or cream and just really embrace that refined black tea flavor, this is the one I would recommend. Excellent tea day!

Delicious delicate black tea with honey caramel notes

I steeped 3 grams in 12 ounces of boiling water for 3 minutes. The more I drink golden bud teas, the more I fall head over heels in love with them! I love how this was still full-bodied, and also a little malty for me, but without the excessive maltiness of black teas that are more robust. This one was silky smooth and naturally sweet with lots of delicious golden honey and caramel notes, extremely aromatic, and no astringency. This would be perfect to have on a spring or summer afternoon on a sunny patio during lunch! This would be a great option if you like black teas that a little more delicate and sweet. I would strongly recommend not over-steeping this one.

Great Golden Bud Tea

Tea Review: Dianhong Golden Bud by iTeaworld (China)

This golden black tea was a delightful surprise. Unlike typical black teas, Dianhong Golden Bud has a lighter, more refined flavor that still holds a full-bodied richness. When steeped, the tea turned a beautiful golden brown—inviting and warm.

I prepared it in my Kong Fu clay pot and poured it into a glass mug to fully appreciate the rich amber hue. The first sip without sugar was smooth and satisfying. When I added two cubes of sugar, it enhanced the tea’s natural flavor, adding a subtle sweetness without overpowering the taste.

The steeped leaves revealed a beautiful golden brown color, and even after two more infusions, the tea retained its rich amber color and flavor integrity.

This tea was truly enjoyable from the first steep to the last. Whether you're new to Chinese black teas or a seasoned sipper, Dianhong Golden Bud is a must-try.

Gorgeous black tea with golden buds

I was gifted this tea in exchange for my honest review. Today's featured tea is a dianhong golden bud black tea from Yunnan Province, China. The leaves are just the most gorgeous color and you can tell the tea is high quality from its uniform appearance and lovely scent of the leaves pre-brew. I had the tea both gongfu style and in cold brew form and both were very delightful. The taste of the tea is pleasantly astringent with a touch of honey sweetness. It is definitely one to drink on its own without any additives.

Delightful cup!

This 2024 Dianhong Golden Bud Black Tea was a delightful afternoon cup of tea for me. It was slightly astringent but—smooth, with a beautiful honeyed taste and deeply comforting. I loved how delicate yet full-bodied it was, perfect for sipping slowly without any additions. I did try it with a dash of honey to sweeten it a bit after and enjoyed it that way as well. The second cup was also slightly less astringent and lovely. If you love black tea and want a nice pick me up with a beautiful taste this is a treat.

Delicious!!

This is a yunnan black tea, i decided to do a traditional gongfu style infusion with this one as oppesed to my typical western brew

The first steep i did for 15 seconds, it brewed up to a beautiful golden orange color the aroma is a little bit sweet and honeylike but also a bit malty, its is a bit sweet but not as much comes off in taste as it does aroma, its defiently full bodied, its a tad bit on the dry side but nothing unbearable

The seconds steep was also a 15 sec steep, an orange liquid, the aroma is slightly sweet and almost floral, the malty aroma of pre steeping has dissapered, the taste is delightful the malty taste is still there its taste even more bold the sweetness is gone but its still nice to sip

Amazing!!

This was an outstanding tea! The dry leaves were so pretty! It steeped a golden amber color. This tea was really good, notes of honey and caramel, a tiny bit astringent but not bad at all. It has such a delicious rich flavor. I also brewed this gongfu style. Steeping the first few infusions for 20 seconds and adding 10 seconds to the rest. Brewing it this way took the astringency completely away and left it with a really smooth, rich honey flavor. I really enjoyed this tea!

I used about 2 tsp of tea and steeped at 203° for 3 minutes
Also steeped this gongfu style about 2 tsp of tea at 203° for 20 seconds for the first few infusions and then adding 10 seconds to the rest

Wonderful Golden Bud

I usually do not use the word "delicate" when describing a black tea. But in this case, that's exactly what it is. Dianhong Gold Bud black tea is delicate, smooth, and has hints of honey hidden within its taste profile.
This tea from Yunnan is beautiful to look at and has a taste that matches its beauty.

Delicious!!

Spoiler alert—this tea is so delicious!

I tried this hot and cold-brewed. Upon opening the pouch, I get a honeyed aroma from the tea. I used the gongfu method with this one, and was able to get about 4 infusions out of it. This is a beautifully smooth rich honey-like black tea. Once again, I think this would be superb during colder weather since it has a richness to it, but it is still delightful in the summer! Throughout my tea session, this became even deeper and more honey-like and it also had a sugary quality to it as well. I don’t taste any floral notes here, only a rich deep honey! This is so delicious.

On my 4th infusion of this tea, I decided to finish it up as a cold brew. I took my leaves from the session, poured cold water over them in my normal Weck vessel and saved the cold brew for the following day. This was an excellent black tea for cold brewing. It was smooth and the honey quality still remained!

This is quite a delicious Chinese black tea and I highly recommend this one.

Wonderful start of the day with fine cup of tea!

It’s just amazing full body red black tea, once you try it and never back to the supermarket teabags. I was a bit worried that it can take ages to arrive, at the end in two weeks after order I get my favourite tea at the best price!
Nice packaging, good quality, great service.
