Smoked Lapsang Souchong Black Tea form Wuyi Mountain

I tried this hot and cold-brewed. Upon opening the pouch, I can smell the smoky notes of the tea. I used the gongfu method with this one, and was able to get about 5 infusions out of it. This is a very smooth, very smoky black tea. There is a great balance between the smoke and the black tea, and the more the tea session went along, I got more of a dark honey note from the tea itself. The smoke remained through the entire session. I can envision this being a perfect tea for a crisp autumn day, but it was still enjoyable here in the summer.

On my 5th infusion of this tea, I decided to finish it up as a cold brew. I took my leaves from the session, poured cold water over them in my normal Weck vessel and saved the cold brew for the following day. This was so good to finish up the tea session—nice and cold, and the smoke remained through the cold brew.

This is a very nice lapsang souchong—it has a smoke that remains throughout infusions and the tea is nice and robust.

I thoroughly enjoyed this Lapsang Souchong (Zhengshan Xiaozhong) straight from the Wuyi Mountains of China. The pine smoke aroma was not overpowering at all. Giving it a perfect marriage with the sweetness and adding to the character of this tea. Delivering a taste profile that I'm going to visit it again real soon!
