Ya Shi Xiang Dancong Oolong Tea 100g

Brewed hot, I used the entire 5 gram cake gongfu style in a gaiwan. I was able to get 7 steepings out of the tea (following their brewing suggestions of 212F, 10 second steeps, increased in each infusion). This was yet another stellar oolong! This one leaned more creamy white floral and honey toned than yesterday’s deeper roasted oolong. I do get a slight stone fruit note at the end of my session. This was a delightful ride with each infusion. This oolong is bright, not astringent at all, and has a sweet richness throughout each steep. Definitely a delicious oolong for a spring day! Dancong can be tricky for some, but this would be a great tea for those who find it difficult or are newer to it.

It has a sweet fragrance and the honeysuckle really stands out upon brewing. The tea is way more floral than I expected given the name. I was thinking it would be more earthy but it is on the flowery perfumed side. I am a fan of the history and lore behind this tea.

At first it brewed up a very pale yellow color and had an amazing honeysuckle amora. Then it became more of an golden color.

I really liked the floral notes of this tea, it was a little bit sweet and there was a slight roasted note in the background.

Don't oversteep or use boiling water for this one! After the first steep, it was somewhat astringent. I lowered the temp to 180° and continued to steep for 10 seconds. Flavor was much better!

Overall I really enjoyed this one once I got the temperature and timing right. I definitely want to try this one again!
