Brewed 5g in a 450ml glass teapot at 212°F with quick 10-second steeps, producing a beautiful deep red-orange liquor. Smooth, earthy Liu Bao creates a comforting foundation of aged wood, gentle sweetness, and soft minerality, while the chenpi adds a warm citrus brightness that lifts the cup. This is a beautifully comforting tea—earthy, woodsy, and gently sweet. The addition of chenpi, or aged tangerine peel, pairs seamlessly with the fermented Liu Bao dark tea, creating a mellow and deeply soothing cup.
The aged peel brings a complex, evolving character. What once might have been sharp or bitter transforms over time into something rounder—earthy, subtly sweet, and richly aromatic with woody undertones. The result is layered yet approachable.
Drinking this tea feels like stepping into a damp forest after rain or opening the pages of an old, well-loved book—in the best possible way. It’s nostalgic, grounding, and quietly intricate.

You can really smell the tangerine in the pressed leaves before brewing.

I steeped this tea using the gaiwan method and steeped for 15 seconds after I rinsed the leaves.

First brew is very earthy and smokey. It’s giving nutty with fungi undertones. It’s flavor profile is almost savory. The aged tangerine peel gives it a deep and rich complexity. I feel like I should be in the middle of a forest while I enjoy this exquisite tea.

I love how with each steep the flavor profile changes a bit. This is definitely a tea that you want to make sure you have time to sit with and really take in.

This tea was really good! The scent alone was amazing! I loved seeing the tangerine peel throughout it. It brewed up a lovely orange color and became darker with each infusion. The flavor was incredible, bright citrus with rich, earthy notes. There was also a hint of smoke flavor that lingered a bit in the background. It was so smooth and perfectly balanced.

The earthiness became more pronounced after each infusion but was still well-balanced and tasty!

This compressed blend of ripe Liu Bao and aged tangerine peel offers a smooth, well-balanced profile. Early infusions (212°F, 10s) are light and clean, with mild sweetness and soft earthiness, while the citrus remains subtle.

By the second infusion (15s), the body becomes fuller with a rounded, slightly viscous mouthfeel. Sweetness deepens and the tangerine integrates more fully, adding a gentle fruit lift.

At the third infusion (20s), the tea develops greater depth. Earthy notes intensify and a slight citrus bitterness adds contrast.
