Harvest Year

NOTE: The 2026 First Flush Longjing is available for pre-order.

Longjing is one of China’s most renowned green teas. Our First Flush Longjing— the very first picking of early spring, harvested after the tea trees awaken from winter dormancy.
Picked to the traditional one bud, one leaf standard — with the first leaf just beginning to open — it represents the most prized stage of spring growth.
After resting through the entire winter, the tender shoots slowly accumulate nutrients and develop naturally high amino acid levels.
As the yellow-green buds unfurl in water, it feels like watching spring come alive in your cup.

Harvest Time: Expected in early April 2026
Tea Variety: Xingchang native variety (part of the Longjing Qunti Variety)
Picking Standard: One bud with the first tender leaf
Origin: Liugongtian Village, Changle Town, Shengzhou City, Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province, China
Tea Garden Elevation: 600–800 meters
Tea Master: Sheng Jiangjun

Texture: Round and silky
Finish: Clean with a lingering sweetness

Longjing Qunti Zhong (literally "Group Variety"), affectionately known as "Old Tea Trees" or "Native Tea" by local farmers, is the original, heritage tea population of West Lake Longjing. Unlike modern cultivated varieties that are clonally selected from a single parent, Qunti Zhong is a diverse "family" of tea plants that have naturally evolved and adapted to the local terroir through seed propagation over centuries.

While most Longjing on the market today comes from selectively bred "superior" varieties like Longjing #43—chosen for their early sprouting and uniform appearance—Qunti Zhong offers something far more valuable: authenticity and complexity. Thanks to its genetic diversity, this heritage variety is naturally more resilient, adapting to varying weather conditions.

By cultivating Qunti Zhong, we preserve the original, unadulterated soul of Longjing tea. The flavor is not simple or one-dimensional; it unfolds in layers—subtle florals, rich chestnut notes, and a lingering sweetness that modern varieties often lack. For seasoned tea drinkers, this complexity transforms each cup into a truly nuanced experience.

We specially chose Longjing tea from Xinchang, Zhejiang, instead of West Lake Longjing, because the tea gardens in Xinchang offer a purer and more natural environment.

Xinchang is far from busy cities and located in mountainous areas at an altitude of 600–800 meters. The tea trees grow in a fresh climate and clean, unpolluted soil. This natural setting gives the tea a cleaner, smoother, and more delicate taste.

At the same time, Xinchang Longjing still preserves the original local Longjing tea cultivar. Many of these tea trees are over 50 years old. With their mature age, the leaves develop deeper and richer flavors.

Master Sheng Jiangjun has over 30 years of experience crafting Longjing tea.

From 2011 to 2013, he worked in Meijiawu — one of Longjing’s core production areas — where he mastered traditional hand-processing techniques.

He later returned to Xinchang, Zhejiang, and founded his own workshop, producing Xinchang Longjing using the same core-area standards.

We have partnered with Master Sheng for many years for two reasons:

• His craftsmanship follows authentic traditional Longjing techniques.
• His tea comes from mature, locally grown tea trees at higher elevations, offering greater depth and richness.

With skilled hands and carefully cultivated leaves, his tea reflects both heritage and true origin.

Gaiwan Brewing Method

Water Temperature: 80–85°C (176–185°F)
Tea-to-Water Ratio: 1:30–1:50 (e.g., 5g tea : 150ml water)
Adjust the ratio according to your personal taste preference.
Brewing Steps
1. Warm the gaiwan with hot water.
2. Add the tea leaves.
3. Pour in water and steep for 10–15 seconds for the first infusion.
4. Gradually increase steeping time for each subsequent brew.
Re-steeping: 4–6 infusions possible.

The 2026 First Flush Spring Green Tea is available for pre-order.

Orders are expected to ship in sequence between April 20–25, based on purchase time.

As first-harvest tea is highly influenced by weather conditions, the exact picking schedule may vary. Our tea gardens are located at higher elevations, and the trees are mature, locally grown varietals, which naturally sprout later than standard plantations. This year’s harvest is expected to begin around April 15.

After picking, the tea requires careful processing, refining, packaging, and transportation, which takes additional time.

Thank you for your understanding and patience as we prepare this year’s fresh spring harvest.
