Huangshan Maofeng – Qunti Variety

Why Qunti?
It represents the most traditional and authentic flavor of Huangshan Maofeng.

What is Qunti?
Qunti refers to naturally seed-grown tea plants — a diverse “family” of trees, not cloned cuttings. Each tree is slightly different, like a natural forest.

Why it matters:

  • Richer flavor: Diversity creates layers of taste — some trees are more fragrant, some sweeter.
  • Better adaptation: Naturally selected over years, these trees thrive at high elevations and express their terroir fully.
  • Deeper roots & older trees: Absorb more minerals, giving the tea depth and complexity.

In contrast: cloned varieties are uniform and high-yield, but their flavor is often simpler.

We selected Master Yu’s Jinzhai Huangshan Maofeng for its authentic flavor and approachable price.

Although Jinzhai is slightly outside the core Huangshan region, it shares the same natural conditions — clean mountain air, fertile soil, and ideal climate. Many trees are locally grown, seed-propagated, and well-established.

The tea delivers the classic Huangshan Maofeng character: fresh, smooth, and elegant. Its natural growing environment ensures high quality, while making this iconic style more accessible to tea lovers.

Master Yu has been crafting Anhui teas since the 1980s, including Maofeng and Lu’an Guapian.

Based in Yanzihe, Jinzhai, his tea garden grows naturally seed-propagated local varieties. Though outside the Huangshan core region, the trees and traditional processing techniques produce a flavor remarkably close to classic Huangshan Maofeng — fresh, smooth, and refined — at a more accessible price.

We partner with Master Yu for his expertise and the strength of these local tea resources, offering authentic flavor with excellent value.
