The evolution story of Minnan Oolong

Flavor Evolution: Three Regional Influences

① Wuyi Influence (1860s):
Minnan teas like Yongchun Fo Shou and Baiya Qilan were inspired by Wuyi rock tea techniques. Light tossing and medium oxidation brought out floral and fruity notes, forming the base of today’s light aroma style.

② Taiwanese Craft Comes Home (1990s):
Taiwanese tea makers introduced modern methods—like air-conditioned withering—to Tie Guan Yin and Zhangping Shui Xian. This created lighter, cleaner flavors with soft floral notes and less smokiness.

③ The Return of Strong Aroma:
To survive long shipping, Tie Guan Yin was heavily roasted—marking the start of the strong aroma style.
As light aroma teas declined in quality, Anxi revived traditional charcoal roasting, making strong aroma a symbol of true craftsmanship again.

Authentic Local Tea Cultivars

All 8 teas are made from local cultivars developed over decades or even centuries.
Tie Guan Yin, for instance, descends from the “Red Heart” cultivar, unique to Minnan for over 300 years, known for its orchid aroma and signature “Guanyin Yun” (lingering aftertaste).

Only the Best, No Compromises

For each tea, we test 2 versions and select only the most balanced and representative one.

All leaves come from high mountain gardens at 400–1000m elevation, hand-crafted by local tea masters with over 20 years of experience.

No blending, no fillers—only whole leaves, ensuring you enjoy a truly authentic and pure cup of tea.

Tea introduction

Light Aroma Tie Guan Yin

A floral, lightly oxidized oolong from Anxi, Fujian — often called the "King of Chinese Oolong." It brews a clean, orchid-scented tea with a smooth, sweet finish. This version comes from a high-elevation village, making it especially fragrant and refreshing.

A great introduction to floral Chinese teas. Naturally uplifting, no bitterness.

Roasted Aroma Tie Guan Yin

This is the traditional style of Tie Guan Yin — richer, deeper, and roasted over charcoal. It has toasted notes, soft fruitiness, and a smooth body. Grown at 900m in Longjuan village, it's a balance of floral aroma and warming depth.

→ For fans of classic oolong or medium roast coffeebold but smooth.

Huang Jin Gui (Golden Osmanthus)

A rare high-fragrance oolong from Anxi. Its name means "Golden Osmanthus" due to its natural floral aroma, like osmanthus or pear blossom. Lightly oxidized and bright in taste, it brews a golden, honeyed cup.

→ If you love floral green teas or white teas, this is a must-try oolong.

Zhangping Shui Xian

China’s only compressed oolong, hand-shaped into mini cakes. This tea has a soft floral scent and mellow, smooth taste with excellent re-steeping ability. It comes from Zhangping — a UNESCO-recognized traditional tea-making region.

→ A unique oolong with a story. Try it if you love both structure and softness.

Yongchun Fo Shou (Buddha’s Hand Oolong)

A fruity, citrus-scented oolong grown in the high mountains of Yongchun, Fujian. The name comes from its distinctive leaf shape and bright, citrusy aroma — think pear, tangerine peel, and light cream.

Ideal for cold brew lovers looking for fruitier, low-acid flavors.

Mei Zhan (Plum Aroma Oolong)

This oolong features a gentle plum blossom fragrance with a hint of dried fruit and wood. Traditionally charcoal-roasted, it offers a warm, smooth cup with lingering floral notes. From 900m in Anxi’s mountain villages.

→ For those who enjoy depth and floral complexity — great hot or iced.

Da Ye Oolong (Large-Leaf Oolong)

A bold, full-bodied oolong from Shaping village — the birthplace of this variety. Known for its rich, woody aroma and smooth, caramel-like sweetness. Made from wild, older tea trees and traditionally roasted.

→ Great for black tea drinkers wanting to try oolong with structure and warmth.

Bai Ya Qi Lan (White Bud Qilan)

A rare, aromatic oolong from Pinghe, Fujian, grown at 1,000m altitude. It features notes of orchid, honey, and grapefruit.Smooth and elegant, it cold brews beautifully without any bitterness.

→ A top pick for floral tea lovers or anyone seeking a refined, aromatic brew.
